Semblance

She was born in Mexico City within a family of artists. Her initial learning was autodidactic and was also guided by her father. Later, she studied formally with different masters of figurative and abstract painting in Mexico and Barcelona. Her current technique is the outcome of an intense development in experimenting with materials and the weighted result of this experimentation, as well as the analysis of antique techniques.

Her paintings have been exhibited individually and collectively in diverse museums, cultural centers and universities in Mexico City, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, Querétaro, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Monterrey and Guanajuato, among others. Out of Mexico, her work has been exhibited in Varsovia, New York, Paris, Barcelona, Sevilla, Valencia, New Delhi, Argentina, Chile, Tunis, Mumbai, Bangladesh and Italy, among others. She has participated in more than 50 collective exhibits and 9 individual exhibits. She was selected in the international contest Competition of Modern Art of the Modern Art Community of New York and Athens 2011. She is a member of the MUMA (Museum of Women in Mexico)

She has contributed in the Proyecto Mira Lee 2012 of the Museo Nacional de Arte MUNAL México and in the “Entrecruces” Project 2015 in the same museum. She is appointed in the projects JANO Asociación de Barcelona 2012 – 2017 and México Joven Asociación Cultural Polaco – Mexicana Bocian & Nopal 2009 – 2014.

Her work has been published on the cover of several poetry books, psychology books and diverse yearbooks and art magazines.

    Currently, Cielo Donís is preparing some work to be shown in her coming exhibit; she gives clases of drawing and painting engineering in the College Degree of Visual Arts in Universidad Anáhuac Norte in México, she is a founding teacher of the Visual Arts Degree at the School of Arts of the Universidad Anáhuac México.
